$19,000.00
The elegance of this Italian hand-carved marble figure, created in the early 20th century, echoes the timeless allure of the renowned Venus de Milo (Aphrodite of Milos in Greek), the celebrated goddess of love and beauty. The original sculpture remains one of the Louvre Museum's most iconic treasures, discovered on April 8, 1820, amidst the ancient ruins of Milos, an island in Greece.
Believed to have been crafted between 130 B.C. and 100 B.C., the original sculpture is often attributed to Alexander of Antioch, an artist from the Hellenistic period. However, historical records previously misattributed the work to the acclaimed Athenian sculptor Praxiteles.
This hand-carved marble figure serves as a remarkable homage to the enduring legacy of the Venus de Milo, perpetuating the timeless beauty and allure of the original masterpiece from antiquity.
