Of typical form, having a hinged top over a ormolu mounted body and two twin candle sconces. The front with four columnar supports and the back with two supporting columns. The Interior made by Pierre Erard of London, case made by Collmann and sons

 

Maker’s Biography

 

Leonard William Collmann was a very well known designer who manufactured furniture of superb quality. He was a pupil of Sydney Smirke R.A. (designer of the Carltonand the Conservative clubs). He furnished and designed many buildings in London including clubs, mansions and private homes . His son was the Director of Decorations toher Majesty at Windsor Castle. Collmanns’ designs were occasionally Gothic, but generally Classic
